Hello Falling Hair,
I have been of the yasmin pill for a month and my hair is falling out profously. I have really thick hair and my hair feels much thinner than before. Being stressed about it either doesnt make it any better. But it will stop. Try to use natural shampoos and treatments to stimulate the scalp. I know exactly how you feel...I was crying in the shower a couple of nights ago. I hate yasmin pills they are the worst pill around. If you are not pregant yet go to gnc and take the woman Hair, skin and nails formula vitamins. They contain biotin which is extremely healthy for the hair. I hope this helps you. Just know you are not alone...I cry with you...

I had the very same effect while I was ON Yasmin. I started taking prenatal vitamins WHILE continuing with Yasmin and the problem ceased. I know it's scary, but my hair did grow back... hang in there!
I also have been off Yasmin for 5 months, and my hair started falling out a month after stopping. I started taking One Source - Hair, Skin and Nails formula, that I got at Wal-Mart, and I have seen less hair in my comb. Hope this helps! You are not alone!
I took Yasmin on and off for about 2 1/2 years, about a year after taking the pill I stopped and became very lethargic and gained about 40lbs in 2 months. I began taking the pill again last year and noticed that my hair was thinning, and also that it was falling out quite rapidly. I also suffered from daily headaches and weekend migraines. I have a thyroid condition, so my doctor thought that was the problem. I continued taking the pill until Dec of 2007, and went off of it completely. I quickly suffered from a sinus infection that turned into bronchitis within 2 days this was in late December, now it's late February, and I'm fighting off a second sinus infection which my doctor caught in time and is now being treated. Mind you that I hadn't had any major illnesses in over a year. About 5 months ago I made some very big lifestyle changes eating healthier, and began a more rigorous workout regimen. I've begun dropping some of the weight, and put on quite a bit of muscle. I have more energy. The headaches and migraines have subsided as well. I wish I could tell you that my hair is back to normal, but unfortunately it's not, I had to cut my shoulder length hair to a shorter shaggy boy cut in order to cover some of the thinner spots.
It's sounds as if you have experienced many more side effects than myself. I am sorry to hear that. I have had no weight issues or illnesses (although I have a natural tendency to experience sinus infections - not as many as I used to) I have experienced some headaches, however I think they have only been related to dehydration lately. The hair issue is the worst complaint I have and as you have read it has been quite distressing for me. I normally wear my hair very short to short and have only grown my hair a little longer over the last year. When (if) my hair loss begins to slow down or stop I will be cutting it back to the short whispy styles that I have had in the past. I can accept that my hair is thinning - as long as that's all it is doing and not ALL FALLING OUT! I am keeping my cool and have a specialist appointment with an endocronoligist in a week and a half. I have been researching hairstyles that can disguise thin hair and hopefully will be able to acheive a look that makes me happy. I will probably have more fringe cut at the front than usual - however I am quite happy about doing this, it would be nice to have a change. It is good to hear that you are losing weight and remaining healthy. This yasmin pill is a terrible thing. I do not want to take any oral contraception again! As you have read, my husband and I would like to have a baby so I hope this happens soon and my hair stops falling out too! Here's to positive thinking! Thank you for your message. Can I ask do you like your new hairstlye? Does it make you feel comfortable? Short hairstyles can look beautiful. Did you have curly hair or straight?
I just sent a message to my own posting!! Oops....
Hi, there is no question the hairloss is from the pill, it's called 'dread shed' and starts about 5 months stopping yasmin; i call yasmin literally POISON, there is no other word for it. My daughter had gorgeous thick hair and when she went off yasmin (she was fine on it except for her terrible moods), she lost 1/2 her hair. It has been l yr now (she switched to ortho-cyclen) and it is better than it was at first but still has not returned to pre-yasmin levels. There should be a class action lawsuit against them really.........these doctors don't have a clue and could care less, they just get visits by the pharmaceutical salesmen promising them vacations in the caribbean and they tell everyone to switch to yasmin.
