I'm suffering the same side effects. Has your husband confirmed with his doctor the sleep problems are a result of Simvastatin?
I'm suffering the same side effects. I've been taking 20 mg Simvastatin daily for about 30 days now. For the last 2 weeks I've been waking after about 5 hours of sleep and then having troulbe going back to sleep. Has your husband confirmed with his doctor his sleep problems are a result of taking Simvastatin?
Hot flashes, can fall asleep, but can't stay asleep. Get up to go to the bathroom so much more too. Dr. just increased dose from 20mg to 40mg. He insisted I take it before bedtime. Pharmacist says it doesn't matter when I take it as long as it's the same time every day. My weight is normal for my height/age 43 and maybe it's menopause. Not sure, but I'm going to start taking the 20mg dose again and increase my walk by a mile each day. I hope it helps....something has to.
I started on Simvastatin mid. Jan. 20mm last thing at night. First day after taking ;pains in feet and hands. Phoned doctor who said IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE after such a short time. Next day Nausea and then the sleeplessness. Joint pain progressed throughout my body. I do have occasional joint pain so did now know if tablets made it worse. Could usually drop off within an hour of being in bed but would wake up at 3 a.m. and be awake for rest of night. Saw my doctor last week and she suggested I come off tablets and try to keep my cholesterol down by diet alone. I eat a very healthy diet - am veggie. dont eat fried foods, dont drink either. My downfall is chocolate and crisps and cheese - she says I have to cut these out completely. I said could I have sweets instead and she said too much sugar would send my teeth bad. I said my teeth were either out, crowned and the ones I had ached anyway so she said fair enough to that. Thank goodness you've got to have some pleasures. I will go back in 3 months to see if my cholesterol has stayed the same. It is down to 6,.2 down from 7.6 I believe.
