i am on the first week of my second pack, after switching from orthotricyclinLo (which i loved, but my gyn suggested i switch so that she could give me samples while i was abroad). a few days before my first "period" (if you can really call it that...it was ridiculously light as far as periods go)at the end of my first pack i started getting bad stomach cramps. i attributed it to my body getting adjusted to foreign food, but the cramps, while less painful, are still rather persistent and range from my stomach to lower-left side. i have also been experiencing weird hunger, in which i have the desire to eat but everything seems unappetizing or makes me nauseous. i started freaking out, thinking i had some strange std symptom, but i have no other symptoms and have been in a monogamous relationship for the past 9 months. and while i have yet to take a pregnancy test, i have been on birth control for the past 4 years (so my uterus is something of a barren wasteland) and i use condoms with my boyfriend. i was freaking out a bit with these side cramps, wondering whether or not i should make a doctor's appointment. when taking orthotricyclinLo i had little to no side effects, and i have never gotten menstrual cramps before, so i hadn't thought that this discomfort could be from my pills. i was thinking of making a doctor's appointment, but after reading this blog am reconsidering, and might just wait out another month or so. has anyone else had a similar cramping/discomfort experience, and did it ever subside? thanks!

I have been feeling the same way except that i didnt use protection while with my boyfriend. So Im having stomach cramps that come and go. Im hungry all the weirdest times...

So Im sort of glad that someone else feels the same. But I also get the feeling that its extremely hot and im super moody when there is too many people around me.

So did you feel like this...
well the crapping, you said, but Im scared...

i havent yet experienced any unusual temperature problems, except for a few days after my first period where i would wake up in the middle of the night hot and sweaty. i'm not sure if i've been moody around people specifically becuase of the pill, or just because i've been nauseous and crampy and it makes me grumpy.

taking advise from friends, i've started taking my pill (i take it in the mornings) with a cracker. this is the second day of doing this, and my stomach pains have been getting less frequent. i'm also somewhat prone to getting dehydrated, and i think that the nausea, cramps, and exhaustion might also be because the pill was making me more dehydrated (i dont know how that works, really, but i just read someone's blog here who said they've been feeling dehydrated after being on the pill, too), so i've been making sure to drink a bit more water than normal, and so far i've been okay...we'll se how the rest of the day goes, but i'm pretty sure that if i keep getting symptoms that make me unable to eat/enjoy food as well as the company of my friends and boyfriend, i am switching.

if you're worried that you might be pregnant (from the weird pregnancy-like symptoms that this pill seems to create) you can take an over-the-counter pregnancy test, just to put your mind at ease. it seems a lot of other women on this blog had similar fears after being on loestrin. and if the symptoms dont recede after your second pack, you should call or talk to your gyno.

good luck!

alright here's an update after a couple months, just to calm some fears. after about 3-4 weeks after switching pills, all of my symptoms have gone away. i'm working on my 7th month on loestrin and it's really been working well for me: my periods only last about 3-4 days, they're relatively light, i have none of the cramping or pains i was experiencing before, though the weird hunger picks up again a few days before/during my period. orthotricyclinLo had given me a yeast-infection-like discharge, but i even believe the the loestrin has counter or remedied this as well. the only complaint i have is that i sometimes feel bloated and my back hurts when i'm menstruating, which i never experienced before this pill, however it's very mild and therefore completely tolerable.

good luck ladies!

I have spent many hours researching this pill. After all that I have read I am very nervous about starting this pill tomarrow. I was recently on the Mirena. Which I loved the fact that you didnt have to worry about taking a pill every day. I am not good at remembering. Although I had really bad side effects with Mirena even after 9 months of using it. My doctor only gave me two options:Loestrin24Fe or the deprvo shot. I have never heard anything good about the shot. Also...I get nervous about taking the pill because my older sister had a blod clot in her leg not long ago and her doctor told her that her siblings and kids were at a higher risk for blood clots. Something about it can be in a gene. SOO..... I just don't know what to do about this...any advise about it? anyone!?
