I have been on 40mg/day of Lipitor for 5-6 months and this is how I feel: totally drained - no energy at all - horrible lower back pain - I've been in physical therapy for the past 6 weeks. My neck muscles, back muscles and hip muscles were in constant spasms. Right after beginning Lipitor I woke up with vertigo and still have the dizziness. I was convinced that I must have some horrible disease and was dying at age 47. I stopped taking Lipitor 3 weeks ago and starting taking fish oil, vitamin c, coq10, b vitamin, daily vitamin - the muscle spasms are a little better - still have lower back pain, brain fog, some dizziness. I am so tired all the time - it's so difficult to work a full time job right now. Has anyone else had these same symptoms? Does anyone know how soon I should start to feel better?

Praise God. Finally I know that i am not insane . I had a mini stroke in dec and was put on Atovastatin 20 mg and from then onwards, i have been feeling tired and sleepy all the time with bad aches and pains in my arm. The dose was changed to 40mg 4 weeks ago and I have been a zombie since then. Always sweaty, achy and finding it hard to sleep at night but drowsy during the day. Even my speech and tyoing gets fuzzy at times .I am 34 yrs old with a family history of HBP. the Lipitor was given to me as a precaution but now i will surely stop taking it and review my diet instead. Thanks for all the info on this website.

I am 43 and was on 25mg Zocor for about six months. I started getting all the same side effects you were having. The I went to the doctor and she prescribed Lipitor 10mg I only took it for about 3 weeks. The first week no problem a little muscle pain but no foggy head. Then half way through my second week the side effects returned, the foggy head was not as bad but the fatigue was over the top. I too thought I was dying of some disease but then I realized that I didn;t feel that way all the time and disease just doesn't work like that. I quit taking the Lipitor about 5 days ago and still have the symptoms but feel as though they are slowly lifting. I started taking Fish Oil 1000mg, 2000mg Vitamin C, 150mg CO-Q10, Garlique 1 tablet a day, and 2000 milligrams vitamin B-12. It is recommended because the statins rob our bodies of of this necessary vitamin. I know it seems like a lot but at least I won't be as tired all the time.
