I just wanted to give an alternative perspective to the comments on this board. I've been on Yaz for two months, and I'm very happy with it. The first week or so wasn't great: weird muscle aches, fatigue, lightheadedness occasionally. I had light brownish discharge/spotting for about a week. The second week I had some striking headaches, and over the first two weeks I lost 10 pounds (water weight). But since then it's been smooth sailing. My period came exactly on time and lasted about 2.5 days. I no longer have any symptoms besides breast tenderness (akin to what my breasts felt like before my period, before). So - keep in mind when you're reading these negative comments that usually the happy folks don't feel the need to post!

No offense but if you have only taken a medication for two months you don't begin to know what is going to happen. I have seen a lot. Of course a positive attitude is always the best medicine.

Hi,

I agree, I guess the ones who don't like it will feel more inclined to share and rant.

I used to take the Nuva Ring and it took me almost 2 years to figure out how badly it was affecting me, my sex drive and emotional well being.

I've been on Yaz for about a year and generally am happy with it. I have NO period whatsoever. Never. But I've always had light periods anyways and my doctor said it is because of fat distribution in the body.

Anyways.

I was off Yaz for a week because my prescription ran out and had to get a new one and started a week and a day late. At first I had very tender breasts, but that has gone down.

What I do notice, however, is this: I am in week 3 and I have had heart palpitations for 3 days now. I remembered that I had the same effect when I first started Yaz. I guess my body has to adjust again. Might be due to "increase potassium".

Other than that I think Yaz works fine for me. As good as a freaking birth control pill can be. They're all really freaky when you think abou it.

Just to make note.. I was very happy on Yaz for the first year.. the past 6 months however my feelings have changed. My moods began to become very irratic. I cry typically for no reason.. I started having heart palpitations about 2 months ago and diarreah at least 5 days out of the week. I honestly was thinking these symptoms were depression from my mother passing away in late January, but have come to find that I think it is more than that. Even on good days my heart will start to beat oddly, I get out of breath, and have sudden bouts of diarreah. I even wake up to my heart pouding irratically sometimes.. exhausted some nights and have insomnia other nights. I never used to get headaches but started experiencing those within just a couple months of going on Yaz. Never had really given thought that it could be the pill. Anyway, I agree.. while everything works for some, it may not work for all.. and not only that, side effects can come on at any time. It is nice though to see someone put some positive comments on the page.. it paints a more realistic picture for all, that mostly posts are from the worst of the worst cases.. mine being on their side at this time. :).
