Anyone have extreme skin sensitivity? The right side of my face and scalp have a minor burn/itch feeling. I also seem to have some small goose eggs on my head. I'm seeing the OB today. Should be interesting.

Bodensmom is right. I have been dealing with severe rash (probably eczema) and horribly painful HIVES for SIX MONTHS. Since I'd had my Mirena in for nearly nearly 4 years when this all started, every doctor was like, "naaaah, it can't be the IUD after all this time..doesn't make any sense."

I had my Mirena removed 2 days ago, and my skin has returned to normal. I can't believe it, and I"m just SO thrilled.

No matter what they tell you, you have to listen to your body. My advice, after going through so much pain and misery, would be to have it taken out at the first opportunity. I'm not looking forward to the horrendous periods I'm not going to be having, but it's worth it to have something taken out that my body was trying SO hard to tell me wasn't right.

And there are lots of other symptoms I've experienced over the years that could be attributed to other things, but I always wondered in the back of my mind if maybe that was the Mirena too. I guess I'll never really know. But anybody who tells a woman that this birth control device has few, if any, side effects is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

About 2 months ago while on Mirena, I suddenly had horrendous, spontaneous itchiness all over my body..sometime just my breasts, then in my stomach, thighs legs..and scalp! My acne got worse, skin drier than normal, and general depression. After some time, those conditions improved, but I still had to medicate for my acne and no matter how much lotion or cream i used, my skin would still itch beyond belief. I do not even need to get into the constant discharge and the DISGUSTING ROTTEN SMELL I would suffer with while ont his drug. I was alwasy self conscious and I knew this is not ok. Not to mention I have ZERO sex-drive at all. ALL OF THIS FOR A STUPID CONTRACEPTIVE? No way. Last night I had the Mirenaremoved , and hope this constant BLOATED ugly feeling I had with the mirena goes away soon...AND that I lose this weight. I gained 3 pounds in the 5 months i had mirena...HOWEVER I exercised and change my eating habits MUCH MORE during that time period...so I should have lost a lot more weight than this for sure. I feel fine now...still a bit blue, but I want to do a body detox to make sure I have all those synthetic hormones out of my system. My scalp is now starting to itch again, however my jeans literally feel loser today...YES IN ONE DAY. I weighed myself this morning and I was about 0.6 lbs lighter than normal, which is great...and 3 pounds lighter than I was last night at the drs office- but I am sure it's because I had just eaten before the appointment, and we are genearlly lighter in the mornings than the evenings. I will start working out again next week and hopefully feel sexy again. ;-)) Wish me luck!!!
