I started Bactrim for a UTI and felt horrible the whole time. Sic...

Ok, I'm in the same exact position. I have issues with UTIs and the last two times (counting currently) I was prescribed Bactrim and last time, my top lip got all swollen and I thought it was pretty coincidental, but figured I bit it in my sleep. (AND I got a yeast infection) Now I'm taking it again for another UTI and same thing happen: Swollen sore lip and yeast infection... I'm pretty concerned after reading other posts about it. Not sure if I should continue taking it...

I know how you feel I was put on it for a kidney stone and in the result of it I started having seizures and vomitting every 5 mins could not hold nothing down at all and my Doc. that gave me that med. should have read in my files that i was not to take it cause it was in the same family with keflex needless to say i was takin by ambulance to the ER and was shaking and could not control it had to have IV meds asap to calm my seizures and some meds for vomitting. I am thankfull for havign stumbled upon this site, as I have been battling perpetual yeat infections due to beign on bactrim several times late last year and earlier thisyear for CA-MRSA. I have been MRSA free for over ayear, but tyhe bactrim and other antibotics that I was on since May of 2008 have completly erradicated my skin's natural flora. I was starting to think I had HIV, but my dermetologist confirmed that this is a very common long lastign side effect due to extended utilization of bactrim and most other antibotics. I've had: jock itch, folticulitus, candidias, oral candidis, plantar warts even....!!! I was healthy as a horse until I aquired MRSA in May or 2008....the cure was worse than the cause it seems..although, it is a pleasure to be MRSA free, that illness is dreadfull, agressive, and contageous.
