I'm 56 and just started Simvastatin. I have started having chest pain every night now. I never had this before! What is up with this>? Anyone else develop chest pain from it? I'm going to stop taking it because it doesn't feel right to get chest pain from a pill!

I started experiencing chest pain, tightness to be more specific, around 5 weeks into my simvastatin treatment. I had the pain within 5 minutes after taking the pill, no matter what time I took it. I am now in my 7th week on simvastatin and the pain has disappeared. The only thing that changed during that time frame is that I stopped drinking Diet Coke. It seems far fetched that Diet Coke was not playing nice with simvastatin and caused the pains but I have no other explanation for the disappearance of the chest pains. I am going to the doctor for a check up to rule out any other heart problems. I have kept taking the drug as it has done a fantastic job of reducing my cholesterol. Hopefully it isn't destroying my heart in the process.
