Yes! I have had the Mirena since 8/2004. that stabbing pain I experienced often at the beginning of my journey with this IUD, only when it was time for my period though. However it went away, but every now and then it will happen. And it's not to be mistaken with gas pains because I can tell the difference. It's no where near as severe as what you explained, and I definitely advice you to seek medical attention, because the IUD becoming dislodged is a serious concern.
I too have experienced the stabbing pain that you are refering to. In fact, I was looking up side efects of Mirena when I came across this webste. I am not sure what is causing the pain but it feels like a sharp, shooting pain in my ovaries. It sometimes huts worse after sex. I have a high threshold for pain and normally can work past anything but this is very bothersome.
You know what I have and didnt think about it having anything to do with Mirena. My husband and I cant even have sex because it kills me. Its so painful. We have to do everything else and I feel bad for him. Me personally I dont care, but I dont want to be in horrible pain every time we start to try and have sex like normal people. I am having my Mirena removed and I am interested to see if this gets any better.
I am so thankful for this website. I feel like I am not alone. I have an appointment on the 13th to have my IUD removed. I have had mine for over a year, but in the last 3 month have been having unbearable cramps during my period. In the last two weeks I have had a non-stop headache and fatique and now I am having the stabbing cramps in my lower left back and stomach. I also had NO IDEA that Mirena also caused low or no sex drive. I thought it was just me as a new parent and other daily stressors.
I know exactly what you mean! I found your question by googling "Mirena and gas pains". I had this stupid Mirena IUD put in only 5 days ago... my son will be a year old in 1 week, The night of the day that I had it inserted I went to go to sleep and as soon as I layed down within 10 minutes I started getting these unbearable stabbing like pains in my lower abdomen. They were like very bad gas pains, almost as bad as a mild labor contraction...I didn't cry but I ran to the bathroom and nothing helped... They just kept coming. They finally stopped and I was able to lay back down after about 20 minutes. Later that night at about 3 in the morning I woke up to them again! Now, 5 days later, I just had them again about an hour ago, just not as bad as the first night. I am getting it removed tomorrow morning! I hate this thing!!!
Oh yea, and as far as sex goes, forget it, I wouldn't know how it feels afterwards because of this gross spot bleeding all day every day!!
