I actually took Lisinopril about 12 years ago when I was first diagnosed with high blood pressure. At that time I came across an article similiar to the one I read today and found out what was causing the coughing. I told my doctor what I read and requested something other than Lisinopril. He prescribe me with Diovan and the coughing stop. After years of taking Diovan my blood pressure was finally under control. However, only after the two month of being off of Diovan I started developing headaches, only to find out that my blood pressure was reaching a level and I needed to get it under control with medication. At this time, I have no insurance so I told my doctor to prescribe my with a generic brand that cost only $4.00. Come to find out it was the Lisinopril - I had forgotten that was the one that caused the coughing 12 years ago. But quickly remembered when the coughing started. I called my Dr., and he has prescribed me with another generic brand - Amlodipine. I'm hoping I will not start coughing from this. My insurance will become active in May and if need be I will request Diovan, once again.
