Hi,
I was prescribed Yasmin several years ago for acne and for regulating my period--I was 17, almost 18 at the time. I was on it for about 2 years before tossing it out because it made my life absolutely miserable. My cup size went from B to C, I gained nearly 15 pounds, and I had mood swings that left me incapable of human interaction (I couldn't even get out of bed at least once a month). Taking your daughter off of this medication is the best thing you could possibly do for her. It took about a month for me to lose the 10-15 pounds that I gained (some of it was due to the Zoloft that I was prescribed for the mood swings, which I also went off of at the same time), but my cup size never went down. Also, my acne became worse in the months following because I didn't replace the Yasmin with another birth control. I would talk to your doctor about other options for the acne--antibiotics, personally, do not work. Proactiv worked very well for awhile and, even if it's expensive, it's still cheaper than antiobiotics.
As far as the weight loss, yes, I lost it, but I also had to restrict my calories and boost my daily activities marginally--help her aim for 1800 calories/day and at least a half hour of cardiovascular exercise 3 times a week. Also, if she's feeling stressed from the mental effects of the Yasmin (which may not be as evident to you, because they could easily be interpreted as adolescent mood swings), a reduction in stress from going off the Yasmin will make weight loss significantly easier. Good luck.
