I too started taking Lisinopril 10 mg about 3 wks ago and on 03-11-08 I woke up at 2:30 am and had no hearing on my left ear I have seen been to my Dr, who sent me to an ENT Dr who sent me for an MRI that came back clear. I have since been given 2 audio test and it confirms 100% loss of hearing. Today 03-18-08 I woke up feeling great no dizziness made the family breakfast and was enjoy a 2nd cup of coffee when i rememeber I had not taken my medications in the morning so I took them and within 1 hr I am back to feeling so dizzy I can't walk stragiht. I decided to look up the side effect of this medication Lisinopril and read you email and I am now very very concerned that this medication also causes hearing loss. What do you think? ESC
I started on Lisinopril /HCTZ ten days ago and within four days I lost hearing in my left ear. I was frantic to get to my doctor because I felt there was a connection and she said there was not. She referred me to a ENT specialist and he did not think there was a connection either. I think it must be related! They are putting me on prednisone for the hearing loss but doubt it will work. What have you experienced in recent days?? I saw one other post with the same problem. It has to be related. I wish I knew if I should go off the Lisinopril? I can't get any straight answers.
Please respond.

I took Triamterene 75mg/HCTZ 500 mg for about a year for high blood pressure, and stopped taking it because it seemed to have increased my hearing loss. So maybe the HCTZ is the culprit?

I also have been on Lisinopril and have had a very distinct rapid hearing loss. Can this be connected to this drug?
I am having the same problem. Did your hearing come back when you stopped the drug? Catharine
