I am 41 and recently diagnosed with asthma. 2 weeks ago was put on asmanex, 60 doses. and for the last week, have had serious joint pain. to the point i almost couldn't walk. i am an avid runner so this has been devastating. dr's reassured me it's not caused by the meds and i could have been exposed to 5th disease which has similar issues in adults. i have quit taking the asmanex to see if the pain goes away. has anyone else experienced this? i see alot of similar symptoms with advair so not sure what med i want to consider. i honestly feel worse now than i did a month ago before i knew i had asthma. any meds out there that don't cause pain??

I used to take azmacort for years and was fine. The doctor decided to try me on this new inhaler, asmanex. I have taken it for about 6 weeks and my whole body aches. I am 55 and in great shape, but even my feet hurt to walk on when I get up in the morning. I never had this before and, although I am not a runner, walking and mountain hiking are my major forms of exercise. During the day it seems to improve a bit, but worsens at night again. I HATE IT and it also has disrupted my sleep and I am constantly hoarse. I am going back to azmacort, the tried and true asthma inhaler with no side effects for me. I have done some research on side effects, and joint/back pain is noted as a secondary potential side effect. Good luck.
