Hey I'm 20 years old and ,I just had Mirena inserted in me September 07.I was skeptical to get it ,but I got it because I had 2 children in a row by c-section.I didn't want to get pregnant again right away .I notice that I never knew when or if I'm going to have my period.So that kind of freaks me out but that isn't my problem all that much .Lately after my husband and I have sex it seems like I will have throbbing sensations right after in my vagina.Ive been trying to see if anyone has this problem too,but haven't had any luck yet.I'm going to get Mirena taken out soon but I don't know when.My sex drive is like dead and Ive want to sleep more than I want too.-Courtney (Tn)
I have had Mirena for about 3 years now. I have not had many side effects other than breast tenderness about a week before I am due to have my period. My periods have stopped over the last year or so. I do not think that wanting to sleep and low sex drive have anything to do with Mirena as there are very small amounts of hormones in it. As for the pain after sex thing..... maybe have your doctor do an x-ray to see if it is positioned correctly in your uterus. There should be no pain since the implant is not in your vagina, it is in your uterus.
