I am a cancer patient and I started at a high dose as well. It will get better. Just relax and know it is the medication causing you your thoughts, and let your loved ones understand that too.
I hope that helps, goood luck,
Mike
Hi. I'd suggest that you taper prednisone as soon as possible -- its unfortunate side effects are many and far-reaching. Even after a course of just a few days of corticosteroid medication, it takes several days to several weeks for adrenal function to return to normal. Corticosteroids also do depress immunte function, and therefore, you'd be at a greater risk from stress and infection. I'd suggest that you take the following nutritional supplements when you discontinue antibiotics and corticosteroids:
1. 5-10g/day of a powdered L-Glutamine to restore health of the GI tract and immune function. Take for at least 2 months on an empty stomach.
2. High-quality probiotics, such as PB8 from Nutrition Now. Take for at least 2 months on an empty stomach.
3. Liquid Cod Liver Oil -- 1 teaspoon per 50lb of body weight.
4. Professional-quality multivitamin-mineral-complex, consider either the "Nutrient 950" from the Pure Encapsulation or the "Ultra Preventive X" from the Douglas Laboratories.
Good luck, and if at all possible, try to stay away from prednisone and other corticosteroids.
YOu will be fine. hang in there. Mucinex taken at certain doses makes me anxious due to the ephedrine. Mucinex may be part of the nervousness issue. I don't know if you can blame it all on prednisone.
