I had the same thing with the left foot. Tingling and numbness. It has become so much better since removal of Mirena. I only have it right before my period now.

Why is it always the left side that is affected?

I too had the mirena from oct-06 and had it removed april of 08. I had very freightening heart palpitations and my left arm and leg would be numb often. One time i was at the store and my whole left side went numb. The numbness started on my left toes, up my left leg up to my arm and the whole left side of my face. The left side of my brain even felt like it had just frozen. It was so scary especially because my 2 year old son was with me and i didn't know what was happening to me. This whole episode lasted about 5-8 minutes and then i regained my postured. I went home and later rushed to the ER. All kinds of tests later and nothing turned up. Normal every thing.
My primary dr. does not think it could be the Mirena but i insisted on the horrible thing be removed anyway. I feel alot better now. no heart palpitaions since removal. I still experience some toe and finger numbness and lower back pain. Tingling on my face and chest tighness although not as severe. i forgot to mention the terrible vaginal and rectal itch.( oh my god, terrible and embarassing) i was always very healthy prior to the Mirena and now after this thing i feel like a train wreck. I hope we can somehow get this thing off the market soon before it does too much damage not that it hasn't already!

I am so glad you ladies started this post, because just a couple days ago I started getting numbness in my left pink and it wouldn't go away! I have also had hair loss, breast infections, kidney pain and MAJOR acne!! I am getting it out too!
