Oh, remember most of the women (and men) here took Lupron for a LONG time. I have had several friends take it for fertility, and it's very tame for short-term use...I think one friend said she had hot flashes, but the rest were fine. Plus, remember the bigger picture- it's a means to an end. If you want, read my post- I am NOT having a bad time (at all) on Lupron, and I take the monthly injections. I feel like a lot of the time the people who have the worst reactions post...it's sad that it can happen- but know that MANY people have minimal side effects. Trust me, I was terrified. I even locked myself in my room the morning of my first appointment!!! I would talk to your MD and see how many short-term Lupron patients have reported severe side effects. Best of luck!!!
I absolutely agree that often those with the worst side effects are the same people who would take the time to post. I definitely feel for those women who are experiencing such horrible side effects but please do not feel that all women have the same experience. I am currently on my second round of Lupron for endometriosis. The first treatment I received was for three months in August of 2006. I also took add-back norethindrone which I would absolutely recommend and which I feel helped quite a bit with the symptoms. The only side effects I had were mild/moderate fatigue, weight gain (about 10 lbs; which you will lose once you stop), a little bit of loss of sexual appetite and hot flashes. I am currently on a second treatment as the endometriosis came back and my husband and I are planning to start a family this year. At this point I am just tired and a little cranky; generally pretty mild. I can totally understand your fears; even though I've done this before with no long term side-effects I'm still scared by many of the posts on this website! I've decided it is probably better not to read the website if you've already chosen to take the shots because it will only stress you out and perhaps exacerbate symptoms of depression and/or anxiety you may have as a result from the drug. You will get through it and will be fine; keep your head up and good luck!!! :)
Its true, some people just arent happy and it seems this is a place to vent. I was very happy with Lupron, but peoples bodies react differently to things, I only was on it for 6 months, but I have been pain free for a year now, and I am happier than ever. The people that posted on here scared the crap outa me, but I know my experience wasnt bad, I feel for every one with a bad experience, but science isnt perfect, and we just have to trust that at least they are making improvements and advances. I wish you the best of luck with you treatments, and I hope you have a wonderful future.
Hey there, I am doing IVF too and starting the Lupron shots tomorrow. Little nervous after seeing all these postings. Has everything worked out okay for you?
