I am a 25 year old, who was perfectly healthy prior to recently when I was diagnosed with Nephritic Syndrome and Minimal Change Disease and possibly FSGS (kidney diseases) I was put on 60 mg of Prednisone for 1 month then I was lowered to 40 mg for one month and I am then dropping to 30 mg. I am also taking Fosamax for my bones and a Vitamin D pill because my last lab test showed low vitamin D levels. I am dizzy constantly and can not live a normal life, I can not drive or do any activities that I had previously done. My chest is so tight and constricted all of the time, my heart rate is so fast and pounds at my chest. I have no energy to do anything, I can barely open a door at times. I am beginning to grow unwanted hair on my face. My abdomen is always bloated. I have pain in my rib cage, and shoulders. I feel very sore throughout my entire body. I do not really sleep at night, so I look very tired all the time. I have actually lost weight, I have no appetite at all. I am down 10-15lbs. Now for the Pro- my Kidney Diseases are currently in remission and this has happened much faster than the Nephrologist had thought. I am very anxious to getting my life back to normal and getting off the Prednisone. Has any one else experienced increased heart rate, chest tightness, or rib pain? I wish everyone the best in their roads to recovery!!

No increased heart rate --- but hard breathing and tightness and rib pain. I am on 20 mg daily and have been for 7 months. So glad to hear your kidney disease is under control--I have Poly-Myalgia-Rhematica and it is under control also. I think if they can just keep us alive until we get weaned from the prednisone we will be a- ok

I am very sorry for what you are going through. I am so glad that the medication is working and hopefully you will be able to get off of it SOON!

I had to take prednisone for bronchitis and it did the same to me. Chest tightness and more difficulty breathing, heart pounding and slamming causing me shortness of breath. I also had such horrendous dizziness that it caused vomitting because the room was just spinning - it was awful. I hope to never have to take it again.

I hope you get continued healing.

Vanessa

DUDE, so rattled right now. i made a post and now its gone because i wasnt registered. here goes from the top.. again.

monday march 31st, 2008. 1:02am.
i cant sleep, i have WICKED pains in my left rib cage and cant lie on my stomach/back without my heart beat making it feel like ive been stabbed and the knife is twisting and pulling my ribs apart. i was dizzy 2 days ago and yesterday off and on... get up and within 5 steps i'd feel faint and woozy... i had to catch myself and lean against the nearest counter//fridge door//chair. i was woken up at 7am with SHARP..SHHHARRP pains in my left rib cage and with every heart beat... i'd be holding back tears and yelling because im in so much pain. now i'm an elite athlete and am really healthy... live the life of any other athlete... low sugar intake, drink water/milk only, substance free, and low carbs.. workout/run regularily so this is out of the blue. i'm not sure if my shoulder injuries brought this on or what the F(*&#)@ is going on!! during my physio visits recently for my knee i had my therapist align my spine//ribs//shoulders//neck again. i seperated my left shoulder twice last season and took a pretty good blow to it at practice about a month ago.. but i have a high pain tolerance so i've managed to shovel it off until today. man it hurts. at the last split second of exhaling i get a killer pain that makes my body JOLT. and with every heart beat.. it feels like lightening bolts are shooting down the side of my spine and makes my rite shoulder//hands twitch. i'm not sure if i have a pinched nerve? or what this is all about?! the severity? if i should just go to physio/see my doctor or the hospital up the street.. but man,... .this is painful.
