I am one of thousands of people affected by this poison. Weeks and months after taking this, things start to happen. Tendons rip, there are psychotic episodes, hearing loss, tinnitus. But the worst for me is heart problems. I've had to get a pacemaker because this poison ruined the electrical system of my heart. Now I may have to have a valve replaced. I have lost friends because of the personality change. But the best part? I should never have been given this medicine for the non-bacterial infections that I had. I have since been hospitalized and this poison hasn't been used for me and guess what? I'm still alive. THIS IS A MEDICINE OF LAST RESORT. THAT'S WHAT IT WAS INTENDED FOR. They are giving it out like candy and soon it won't even be able to help save someones life. Do the world a favor and find a safer medication.

I also am asking you to PLEASE find an alternative antibiotic to fqs. These ADRs are real and LONG lasting. I took this medicine in December for pneumonia. I wish with all my heart I had been given something else. For more than three months now I have been in such pain. Not only physical pain, but also emotional. Last night my heart started racing for hours and didn't stop until I took ativan. I hate to take anything to help slow my heart down..it's scary. These side effects don't go away. I'm scared and I need help. Maybe you can help us since most doctors don't even believe us. Please help. I can't even tell you how messed up my legs and knees are. Sometimes I can't walk... please help!

I too have had tremendous effects from this poison. The list is long, including a ruptured distal bicep tendon that has been surgically repaired. The physical damage is only a small part of the associated problems. The worst part? It was prescribed based on an empirical diagnosis of a sinus infection. No associated fever, no back-up studies, just here.... take this and you'll feel better. When the problems started I was told "it can't be the Levaquin", even after 2 trips to the ER of a major medical center. You're a PA? Good, please help us by looking into the changes that occur after taking this stuff and help us with the ADR's. Oh yeah, and stop handing the stuff out indiscriminately (ie. "...routinely prescribe this medication") and please stop listening to the drug reps.... they only want to sell it. They are legal pushers. As far as the posting goes that you referenced, I noticed it too. It is inaccurate but it still does not minimize the damage this garbage has done. Please let us know when you find the cure. We could use someone here with some "pharmacological experience".
