Hello ladies. I'm a 19 year old college student and I was having problems with fainting and it was suggested that I get the IUD put in because some women start to faint while taking the pill. I've had it since December 2007, and I absolutely hate it. I have extreme mood swings, one minute I'm happy and the next I'm not. I feel like Ive come into a deep depression that I cant get rid of. I have extreme pain in my right ovary area, my back is constantly hurting, I probably have a headache more than not, I cant sleep at night, and I have a horrible odor that can be smelled through my clothing. I'm so angry at the doctor who put it in. He told me nothing of these symptoms and even told me that women loved the mirena. I went online and it seems that on every forum women are hating it. I almost feel like marching in and giving him a dosage of the pain I've been going through these past few months. I would NOT recommend the Mirena to anyone. It just simply is NOT worth it. But, does anyone know of what we can do for the symptoms? I want the IUD out, but my mother paid for it out of her own salary, so I feel obligated. Thanks for all the help ladies!

I am sure your mom would understand. If your having side effects get it out. I had mine inserted in Sept. 07 and I am having mine removed in 2 weeks. I still have spotting and bloating and weird pains in all different places.

I think your mom will understand too, you didn't know these side effects were going to happen. It's not your fault. Your mom surely doesn't want to see her daughter suffer ;) Perhaps you can get a refund?

Thank you for your support. I actually called my mom and she was very supportive about the IUD removal. I'm calling today to make an appointment!
