My 4yr old son was put on this medication about 6months ago. He takes it for his allergies-to help control the asthma. Since then, we have seen some mood changes, he tends to now not listen to us, and has been having anger problems. He is only 4, and i dont know if it is because of the medication, or if it is him being a child. I have talked to his teacher about his anger, and she also has mentioned a few things about his behavior. I am at lost for words, I have no idea what to do, should I take my son off the meds to see how he does? His asthma seems to be worse in the fall/winter months, so should I try and take him off of it and see how he does? I know many doctor's offices will be busy tomorrow!
I have a doctor in Springfield, MO that I am going to be discussing this medication and side effects to on Tuesday, April 1. I have had this appointment for two weeks. It was to discuss some concerns I had noticed with this medication. We all need to be praying for our children and each other from this drug. Thank you for posting and your prayers. Janie
I wanted to update on my original post here. It's been over half a year since we stopped Singulair. We are still dealing with asthma and allergies, trying to figure out how to best treat them, BUT my daughter's rages completely STOPPED two weeks after getting off Singulair. She has had NO BREAKDOWNS, no fits of rage, nothing.
When I typed my original message, I said that I couldn't be sure that Singulair was causing her emotional problems. Now I KNOW Singulair caused them.
While it's been a tough road, working to figure out what meds (both synthetic and homeopathic) will help control her asthma and allergy symptoms, I will NEVER go back to Singulair. I believe it is a truly dangerous drug.
