My son has been on singulair for about six years now off and on. I would only give it to him when his allergies start acting up. He has had behavior problems in school. Anger issues. At the beginning of this schoo year, I was getting calls from his principal and teacher. When I got a recent progress report home from his teacher, she wrote on it that his behavior has improved and she is proud of how he can control himself. At that time he wasn't taking the medication. I am so hoping that his behavior wasn't due to the affects from the Singulair. I was horrified when I heard the reports on news yesterday. I threw the rest of the medication away.
I read your posting. There is an all-natural way impact all of the allergies and respiratory problems that most people have. As Americans we have been brain washed to believe that huge companies like Merck have the best interest of the consumer at heart. Sadly they are only concerned about the shareholders. Please respond to this writing so I can give you this life-saving information.
My son who will be 5 years old next month has been on singulair approximately 3 months. My husband and I have both noticed changes in his behaviour during this time. I thought it was a phase he was going through. He also complains of headaches since being on this medication. I now believe that the above is due to his use of singulair. I'm never giving my son another one of those pills. I pray that because he's been taking the pills for a fairly short period of time that he won't be subjected to any permanent damage and that once the medicine is completely out of his system he'll go back to being the nice and loving child he was prior to taking singulair. I also pray that God will help me, with the assistance of his pulminologist, to find other (safe) ways to keep his asthma/allergies under control. May God Bless every child who's ever taken singulair with good health.
I noticed behavior problems with my son (10 yrs. old) at home and school several years ago after he started taking singulair and suspected the medicine as the culprit, I mentioned it to his doctor and she did not seem to think there was a connection but I took him off anyways and saw improvement. Nevertheless, I tried it again last month and his behavior got worse again but I blew it off as it was just him being bad at school. After hearing tyhe news, I had my earlier confirmation and threw them away. I have done a lot of research on different drugs that are given to children for various reasons for my college research papers, etc. and have found some scary information.
My son is now ten. He was prescribed Singulair when he was very young and suffering from allergies. I just began to let it slide, but his cough from allergies has now become a nagging habitual one, and his allergies this spring seem to be worse, so we tried giving him some of his Singulair. He became strangely argumentative, which seemed so unlike him. I've always appreciated that he's an easy going kind of kid, and eager to please. Now that he's been back on Singulair for about a week, I can't seem to get anything BUT an argument out of him. I'm dumping the Singulair.
