This fall, our 3-year old son went on singulair to combat seasonal allergies and "reactive airway disorder." Shortly after he started the medication, he started having terrible mood swings and when he would get angry, it would go into a rage. This was not typical for our son. We thought that he was entering the awful 3-year old stage and that he was starting to show behavior problems. We have been working very hard with him to help him control his anger and moods, but we will be taking him off singulair tonight to see if that makes a difference!

I have a 5 year old son that has been on Singulair for 2 years and when he first began it at 3 I noticed him having attention problems (zoning out). Now at 5 we ask ourselves regularly if other 5 year olds have the mood problems that he has. One minute he can be showing off and happy and the next he's yelling at us all to shut up to him. I am doing the same as you, last night was definately his final dose!

It definitely is worth taking them off to see if the behaviors subside. I teach and I was devastated to recognize some Oppositional Defiant Behaviors in my son at age 3. I was starting to prepare myself to go down that road if his behaviors didn't improve. He is such a sweet, loving and fun child other than the mood swings and rages. I will let you know how it goes for us!

I too am taking my son off of sigulair...he has become downright violent, this is very unlike him. I will post in a few days and let all know the results.
As of today, NO MORE SINGULAIR

After about a month of no singulair, our 3-year old son has had fewer mood swings and rages. When he does get upset, he is consolable and he comes around faster. He is also getting great relief from loratadine for his allergies. It was a good decision for our son and our family.

After about one month of no singulair, I think I can state that our 3-year old son has had fewer mood swings and fits of rage. When he does get upset, he is consolable and he comes out of it faster. His allergies seem to be managed just fine by loratidine, so it was a good decision for us to take him off the singulair
