I have been taking this drug 75mg everyday for 6 months. at first I was feeling so much better. This past winter I have been sick constantly. I almost never get sick and I have had every virus that has went around. now I am feeling so weird sleep disturbances weird dreams, not being able to sleep but being exhausted.. I have gained weight and want to eat all the time. I am going to the doctor in a few days and will be asking to be weaned off this drug.

getting off of effexor is the best advice i think anyone can give. i am on my 3rd day of stopping cold. i took 150 mg for about 5 months, but a month ago he suggested i go up to 300 mg. BAAAD idea. i felt awful, so i went back to the 150 mg. after hearing and reading about all the horrible side effects and withdrawals i decided i wanted off this drug. plus its too expensive! my dr is switching me to prozac... but the switch has not been easy. he told me to stop cold, and not taper off. i am light headed, constantly feel vertigo, getting crazy hot flashes, feel like i am going to puke, and also feel like i have the runs but i don't. i would definitely not suggest stopping cold. i can't wait to feel normal again. effexor is evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say that 75mg is not high enough dose to help with remission, but it is enough to have side effects. Ask you Dr. about upping dose to 150mg / day or try the new medication Pristiq50mg once a day. It is cleaner on the side effects than effexor xr
good luck
