This is my 3rd month taking Loestrin FE 24 and so far I hate it! I am 25 years old and I've been taking othro-tricyclen for about 5 years and switched to loestrin to have a lighter period. So far I have gained weight, gotten headaches, and skipped 2 periods. The first month I was on it, my period was very light, more like a brown discharge, and lasted about 8 or 9 days. Then I didn't have any periods or spotting for the next 2 months, so I've been taking pregnancy tests, which all come out negative. I have also been having headaches around the time I'm supposed to get my period. It is a terrible feeling to skip a period and think you are pregnant, and this pill makes you have that feeling 24-7! My doctor said that side effects like this are common for the first 3 months, and then they should lessen after that. I will stay on it for another month or so to see if the side effects go away, but if not then I'm definitely switching back!

I am 26- was on ortho tri cyclen for 2 years then on the lo ortho for 6 years- I switched due to severe headaches. So- in December 07 I switched to Loestrin24 bc I began getting headaches from the lo ortho on a daily basis-- the first month- dec- i got my period but at the wrong time and then the second month- jan- i got it in the middle of the month--- but for the 3rd month-Feb- i did not get it------ and today I am on the 3rd brown pill of the 4th month -March-- but now its april 2nd--- still waiting for the period for march and I only have tomm for one more brown pill- i start next pack on Friday-- ahhhhh
I can def assume that the body goes in a big shock switching to a new lo estrog pill after 6-8 years on the same ortho but still---- making me nuts- Then again usually u have to give a new pill 3 months to kick in and your body get used to it--- THE HEADACHES ARE GONE LOLOL HAPPY ABOUT THAT! :O) the only other thing I noticed is I got a headache last month and yesterday--- both of which I was supp to get my period for-- got a headache instead. MMMM Wierd --- and i have been highly emotional and crying and some depression in there as well -- same thing all of u are writing -- MAYBE ITS THIS DAMN PILL LOL Well see if i get it tomm or not -- i think ill take a test anyway to make sure i am not pregnant-- there is just no way i am UNLESS THIS IS A REALLY WEAK PILL BC ITS LO ??? O I HOPE NOT abortion here i go lol
thanks for reading

Oh my gosh...Thank God someone experienced the same thing that I am going through. I was on Ortho for years and switched to Loestrin because I was experiencing brown spots on my face. Now, the spots are gone. I have been on Loestrin for Five months. I have not had a period for two. I am freaking out. I took a preg. test two weeks ago. It was negative. I still don't understand why I have cramps, headaches, and bloating, but not bleeding. Any answers? I don't like this pill at all either. I'd rather deal with the brown spots on my face than have to be faced with worry everyday!
