Singulair is the only medicine my daughter is on. And it is also awfully strange that all our children take the same medicine and all act the same way. Parents that have been asking questions for years we might have some answers. Like I said previously it seemingly causing more problems for children then for adults.
As a 40 year old who has taken Singulair for 8- 10 years I agree that my quality of Life is great with no side effects. I also take Advair. My 10 year old son has taken Singulair on and off for seasonal allergies and I do not recall any such side effects. I will continue to take Singulair but not my children.
I take it too and it does not effect me this way but my sons are experiencing side effects. We, too, battle the Texas pollen! My boys are not on any other meds so I know it is the singulair. Glad it works for you, though.
I am glad that you have had no ill side effects, but as a parent it hurts to hear you say we are over-reacting. do you have children? If you had seen your four year old daughter go from a birght, energentic, vibrant little girl, to a grumpy, irritable, angry and volitile child, you too would probably be as upset as we are. Singulair is the ONLY medication my daughter is taking and as a mother I am convinced it is the cause of her bizzarre behavior. Five days ago we considered taking our daughter to a child psychologist for evaluation, and now this comes out about side-effects. I have read all the postings from the past three days and am amazed at how similar the reports are. I only wish we had known sooner. My daughter has been suffering all this time and we kept giving her the singulair thinking we were doing what was best. As a parent, I cannot express my feelings at this point other than to say I am disgusted that doctors are prescribing such a potentially dangerous drug to children, even those under the age of 2.
How about we all send YOU our kids un-used SINGULAIR to make YOU HAPPY. You sound selfish to me. These are children on this drug with drastic mood changes. My son took nothing else but SINGULAIR.
Obviously some of you did not read what I wrote, so let me reiterate for you:
"1) Apparently Singulair should not be prescribed to children.
2) We have some extremely over-reactive parents.
3) It sounds like many of you describing side-effects from your young children also mention that they are on other mediciation(s).
Don't be so quick to blame Singulair for everything. Many medications share the same possible side effects. Unless Singulair is the only medication your child takes, hold your tongue until more definitive studies and investigations are done."
i think everyone read what you wrote just fine and you wouldn't have offended anyone had you stopped at #1. these are NOT over-reactive parents, these are all normal people whose children have been devastated by a drug that is not appropriate for children. period. i've been on and off this board for three years since i realized what singulair was doing to my four year old who was expressing suicidal ideation. the side effects of this drug are real. they're dangerous, and they're scary.
i'm glad it works for you. no one is judging you for saying singulair works for you, it would be nice if you would extend us and our children the same courtesy.
