How long did it take for the side-effects to go away? and I am surprised your allergist even took those steps because I have had about five different doctors(including the chief immunologist of Cardinal Glennon) tell me Singulair is completely safe, even for infants, with no side effects.
Also, sorry but did you take her completely off cold turkey instead of lowering the dose for awhile. I want to do this the right way. Thanks, rose
I just read your posting. My son has been on this drug for almost 5 years and has had suicidal thoughts and was finally diagnosed with ADHD. I am interested to hear that your daughter had attention problems. I just took him off today, cold turkey, as advised by his allergist. I am encouraged to hear that your daughter is much better. Thanks for the info!
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. The allergist took her off of Singulair cold turkey. All of medications were changed. She now takes allegra and Symbycort (sp?) and allergy shots. I have noticed that some of the side effects have subsided - we have not had a single night terror since November. The attention problems have gotten better but have not cleared completely. I have not had her tested for ADD nor is she on any medication for it other than vitamin B6. The emotional roller coster has leveled off. I was very surprised when the allergist took her off of Singulair because I though it was helping her so much. The allergist said he had been involved in several studies involving singulair and believed it to be dangerous for children.
