I had the copper IUD before and planned on getting it again after my son was born. I had very heavy periods with the copper, but loved the convenience. I love my doctor and she told me the Mirena was better (as did several friends). I told her I can't handle the hormones of bc pills, and she said not to worry because the hormones will not affect me. Within 2 days I began feeling ill but was told it wasn't likely to be the Mirena.
I had my Mirena put in in early January and have had the same symptoms as so many of you. I have been on Paxil for anxiety for many years, but it has worked great. I recently had my first panic attack in 5 years after the Mirena was inserted. I attributed it to stress, which it still could be, but I used to be able to handle stress much better. I am tired, weak, anxious, FOGGY (am having trouble articulating my thoughts and usually write well) and I'm snippy. My skin is very dry, but I have been breaking out. I used to bounce out of bed, now I am lethargic every morning. I have an 8 month old who still wakes up to eat, so I thought that could be it, but I just knew something was off immediately.
I wish I didn't have to wait until Monday to call my doctor. How could they not tell me this could happen?
