I cannot believe that there is so much of ignorance in such an ed...

We have been complaining. We have been complaining to the wrong people. Its just when it gets this kind of media exposure that you find where to send complaints. Why did you even post this? It is so condescending and you are making a big assumption there, mr. biokid1130. Do you think the FDA is investigating it for no reason at all? The more people who post here the more you should have at least some reason to question the safety of the drug. I hope you grow up and have a child with asthma. I hope by the time you do that, the rest of us "educated people" have made a difference in the availability of medications that wont make your child suffer like ours have. You speak of ignorance in society, but these posts are by parents who are describing symptoms of their children. Real symptoms and on occasion, real suicide. Thats not ignorance, that's first hand OBSERVATION. Have some compassion! If you think having a cleaner helathier lifestyle would omit the inability to breathe for an asthma patient, then YOU ARE THE IGNORANT ONE! WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR MEDICAL DEGREE? I urge you to read more about asthma and get informed. I have read your other replies to other peoples postings, and you seem to know just enough to think you are smarter than everyone else. Perhaps you are bipolar and this is part of your manic state? (of course, im no doctor, so i cant diagnose you, but Im a mother of an asthma sufferer, and I am diagnosing you as a big jerk) There are still a lot of unknowns out there about singulair and its interaction with other drugs or medicines, THATS WHY THE FDA IS DOING A STUDY and they anticipate it taking 9 months to complete. Do you think the FDA would be spending 9 months and all that taxpayer money if "poeple could live cleaner, healthier lifestyles and wouldnt be taking medications"

First off, I agreed with your article UNTIL I got to the part about, you people should be having cleaner houses and eating healthier...honey, first of all, I am a COMPULSIVE cleaner...so I have to disagree with you there...and the eating healthier issue, we don't eat junk foods we eat our fruits and vegetables EVERYDAY...so before you start blaming people for not being "clean" you need to get the facts first. Asthma is something you're born with, some people have asthma symptoms and some don't, my daughter never had any symptoms until she was 5yrs old, some kids out grow it and some don't.

You do not even know what you are talking about. You've never taken this medication so why are you even saying anything maybe you should do something more constructive with your time. Like you said there are so many things causing stress in our society and people, like myself, continued taking the drug never making to correlation, but now looking back that is where is all began. I have stopped the medication and I my outlook on life has turned around. Who are you to judge people's lives because they take what was supposed to be a harmless medication? I am sure many of these people, myself included, live happy, clean lives and we do not need people like you entering a forum you have no business being in and judging us.

Your ignorance is laughable. This forum is for parents who were duped by a pharmaceutical company that knew what the side effects of Singular were but choose not to reveal until forced by the FDA in 2007. So to answer your queston on how an educated society could be so ignorant - unless we worked in the research lab of Merck - society tends to trust that they would not put a drug out that would harm a child. I did extensive research before medicating my child and no where did it state she would have the side effects she did. Oh, and please,please, please tell me where on this great God's earth is there a healthy and chemical free environment to raise my child in. I will move there in five seconds. Even space isn't chemical free. However, the rest of us, excluding yourself (because you do believe you are in that healthy world) have to contend with all the environmental threats that proclude our lives daily. And by the way organic is always necessarily chemical free. Even the FDA has proven that. Please don't call people ignorant until you can prove youself not be.

Hindsight is 20/20 and if I had known there were such side effects I may still have put my daughter on singulair because it was the one thing that helped get her asthma under control, but at such a huge price---only now have i put together the pieces and realize that her problems began shortly after starting on singulair. I ahve talked to pediatricians, her allergist, family friends, school nurse, all of whom said there was no connection between her behavior and the singulair---now i know better. As a mother, i should have trusted my gut instinct. How can you be so judgemental, so insensitive?

For most of us we are writing these testimonials about our children.... Im not sure if you are a parent but you should realize that most children, maybe not yours if you have any, especially at ages 4 (like my son), 5, 6, etc... these ages usually do not suffer from stress brought on by the government, and society my son doesn't even understand what war is the most stressful thing in his life is who gets the bigger brownie him or his brother. even if we were all cleaner people (I am rediculously clean) and our children did not have these allergies, asthma, etc... and were not on these medications then they would still be depressed according to your theory right? Good for you for getting through life with out taking medications, most of us do trust medicine and oddly enough after years and years and tons of money into research medications such as Singulair still make it through the fda and are aproved and it isn't until people begin to realize the common denominator that red flags are raised. It is sites like this that allow people to say "hey maybe my child doesn't need a psychiatrist" Who do you think you are saying our children are all like this just because of society? My child lives in a happy healthy home, we eat organic foods, take our vitamins and our baths, come on.... you have got to be kidding?

I think that your reply was quite rude to say the least. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that those who take Singulair are likely to suffer from these symptoms. Do not post such comments unless you have data and facts to back up your ideas. You do not need to attempt to push your lifestyle onto everyone else. Never ever attack victims and their parents. They, as I, were unaware of the symptoms of this drug that was keeping THEIR CHILDREN alive. Please, if you are angry about the world, would prefer anarchy and believe that people should not make use of modern medicine, then talk to those who agree with you rather than attack victims and their loved ones. Your obviously "uneducated" opinion is ridiculous. Why are you even interested in what we have to say? We are parents with children who are taking a medication that has CHANGED them. They were not born this way, the medicine has altered their personalities. No one cares if you never take medications. Are you expecting a cookie? Get a life, you have way too much time on your hands!
