My sister is on this drug since last summer and I keep telling her it has made her worse. She has panic attacks daily and has crippled her. She has also gained a ton of weight and doesn't eat a lot. What happened when you went off of it?
Your issues are not with Seroquel.
You don't need to "ween" off Seroquel. It has one of the shortest half lives of any drug. Seroquel is NOT addictive, physically or psychologically. You take it (even 100mg) and in no more than 8 hours it's out of your system. Now, if you are eating a bad diet with a lot of FAT, smoking POT or other DRUGS of the recreational variety, then and only then will it take longer to work it's way out of your system. I recommend drinking a lot of water, 8 tall glasses a day, as a matter of general health. However, it is especially important that you drink water, NOT cokes or diet drinks or jamba juice, just WATER to keep yourself healthy when taking seroquel.
As to your nightmares, there are psychological things that you haven't worked out. Seroquel makes whatever dreams you already have more intense and maybe a bit weird, but you shouldn't be wigging or tripping off your dreams while on seroquel as it's an anti-psychotic. Therefore, there are other health routine or psychological issues going on and seroquel could help you. Possibly you also need a good norepinephrine and SSRI combo like Effexor XR at a good large dose (takes 6 weeks to work) to help stabilize your obvious deep psychological pain, mood, affect and extreme dysthimia. You're not alone. Keep your mind open to seroquel if you have insomnia with your disorder. You sound borderline or schizophrenic or anti-social bipolar to me. The med combinations can be difficult to sort out. I definitely wish you the highest and best of luck. No one deserves to suffer as you are suffering.
