My 5 year old did have some withdrawls for about 2 full days. He was more angry, his outbursts were more frequent over absolutely nothing.
Day three, he had no more withdrawls. There were some lingering effects, but nothing major. It's now a month, and he's completely back to normal.
Just stay strong, and know that you're doing the right thing. Pretty soon you'll have your son back. Oh, and my ped. also said we didn't need to wean him off, but she also said there were no withdrawls.
Hang in there ok?

It's funny I was going to post this same question today after work, and I saw this. My 6 year old daughter has also been off of singulair for 2 days, and her eyes look dark, and she said her eyes hurt this morning. She also had even worse dreams then usual. I am hoping that it is withdrawal, and that it will end soon. It is so scary. She was a wonderful little girl who turned into the youngest girl with PMS I had ever heard of. I thought we were going to have to take her to a psycologist.
thanks for responding. lets hope this goes away right this minute! i can't stand this. i want to scream and cry at the same time. what did i do to my son!?
My 8 year old went off of his Singular cold turkey and is doing wonderful! I would much rather deal with asthma than depression but believe it or not it has not effected his asthma at all and he is slowly going back to the once happy boy I once knew.
My son reacted angrily the first day on a few occasions to things like clean up your toys, etc but he said it was the first day he did not want to hurt himself in a long time. This is an 8 year old! He is feeling better all the time. Are you taking your son off of it under your doctor's supervision? The doctor should be told about these symptoms. We did not experience anything like this but everyone's body chemistry is different. Hang in there.
