I am happy for you that you have thus far been unaffected by Levaquin. I am curious why you would think, after reading the postings, that an imbalance of flora is the only major concern with this medication? The side effects of levaquin typically occur in the 10-14 days following your last dose (but can occur for up to six months after your last dose), and can include neuropathies and tendinopathies. Unfortunately, the FDA has not yet made doctors aware of these possible complications. I am very concerned about your doctor's advice, as you indicated your taking an antibiotic for the flu? This is a serious misuse of a powerful antibiotic like Levaquin. Levaquin should be reserved for only for proven (through culture) antibiotic resisistant conditions. I hope you continue to be well.
Thanks for replying back. What happen was I went in for the flu and since I do not have insurance he gave me free samples. I had not had antibiotics before, actually the last time I took one was in 94. Thats when a few months later I started developing food allergies. Swollen lips. joints, hives, rashes, general fatigue whenever i ate the wrong thing. Fought this for ten years and as long as I treated it like candida problems my symptoms would be gone. I finally did cure myself, no help from doctors, I now have no food allergies or reactions of any sort. As far as levaquin goes I did post again on this subject mentioning that it seems I do have an issue with tight tendons in my legs. Both legs seem tight from the calves down, especially in the morning. If I knew then what I know now I would of opted to buy the correct antibiotics at any cost especially since a couple weeks later I developed a bad toothache and the dentist prescribed omoxcilian and it only cost 4 dollars. Now with all the antibiotics that i have now taken I know I have to be careful and get my flora balance back in check. So I do lots of yogurts and probiotics from the health food store.. Its possible that the reason he gave me something stronger than recommended was because I have had a nasil drip for for sometime, for months before I got the flu. What really pisses me off is I have done everthing to stay away from prescription drugs for the last 14 years and when I finally go in I am prescribed poison. I guess this is why so many people loose thier trust with the medical field.
