Trilepital works better for some it did for my son. Talk to your doctor about possibly changing meds and get counseling help they gave me and my husband alot of good ideas when we thought we had none left. Hang in there sometimes time is the answer.
I was put on depakote at 15. It was the worse time of my life, as a parent you need to watch how your child is responding to the medication. Doctors sometimes focus on mental well being before they get to physical well being. When they finally got me at the right dose to help my mood I had lost majority of my hair at the crown of my head, gained 20 pounds then dropped to 86 pounds, and finally had to be taken out of school becuase the side effects had taken ahold of my body and my life. I dont like seeing anyone on this drug. If any side effects every occur take case of it as soon as possible do not let your doctor take all the control he is your child and there are other medicines out there. It was a hard lesson learned but as much as we need doctors they are not ALWAYS right.
listen, it is wrong to put children on these drugs. have you tried clearing out all his food first? no chemicals, additives, artificial colors, sugar- no processed foods of any kind? also, look into niacin, the flushing kind. i gave it to my BF who has been on antidepressants meds for 15 yrs. he has now been off the drugs for 2 months and miracles have occured- he no longer suffers from daily migraines and his chronic muscle aches have gone. his moods are much better, he is much happier, he is able to think more clearly. he is really like a new person, or rather like the person he was before he started taking all these drugs, except that he's not depressed
