I've been on trileptil for about 2 years now and am up to 600 MG and I'm 20 years old having all these side effects! But yet my mood is better then ever I'm doing great besides my frustrations with the side effects! I just need to weigh the pro and cons of if it's worth taking with all these sevre side effects!

Hi, I have also been on this med for 2 years and the weight gain and unstable gait is getting to me. I was told by my doc that this med is "weight neutral". I have packed on ten lbs over the past two yrs despite proper diet and exercise. I am also torn as to what to do. My mood is stable but I can't deal with the weight and appearing like I'm a staggering drunk in public. I am on 600 mg at bedtime.

I was on Trileptal for just a few months and went off it in Feb 07. The severe muscle/ligament pain and spasms seem to be permanent. It has been a nightmare.

I was on trileptal for just a few months and went off because of severe muscle cramping and ligament pain which seems to have become permanent. What a nightmare. It has been over a year since I stopped taking the drug and no neurologist has been able to help me. Cortisone shots give only temporary relief.

My daughter is almost 20 years old and has been on trileptal for over 4 years. She has horrible acne, can't hold a job, and worst of all, is very irritable. I was wondering if you had any side effects? The good news is the medication prevents seizures unless she does something to insult her brain, like drink alcohol or get sleep deprived.
