my doc said it might take 6 weeks to totally be out of their systems. but i too am seeing changes after a week so i am excited to see what happens in 6 weeks!
Hi there. I KNOW exactly what you mean about the screaming. Nobody really believes me when I tell them that my son was throwing 6 hour screaming tantrums. It just seems so implausible, but he did. A full six hours straight with no breaks. I never could figure out how he even had a voice left after all that. Anyway, he's been off it for three years now and NEVER screams at me or throws fits. He's a very gentle child, just as he was before he started taking Singulair. Hope that helps.
Sleeping is getting better but falling asleep is still an issue, only 7 days off
My son has been off of it for almost a week and he is almost 100%. No more meltdowns over nothing, no stomach pain, no leg pain and is just a happy 3.5 year old! Hang in there!
My 6 yr old sons last dose was a week ago this morning( after 3 1/2 years). First couple days I noticed improvement but not as much as I hoped. Yesterday and today have been awesome. 2 days in row of great reports from school first time entire school year. Hang in there some kids may take longer to come out of the complete fog. Also remember she may of picked up some bad habits during this time which you may now be able to correct since she will now be able to be reasoned with better. At least that is what I'm finding with my son. He is hearing me finally. Tantrums are alot less.
My 10 year old daughter's last dose was last Saturday night, she had been on it for 3 years. She had three really good days and then on Wednesday and Thursday she had an "episode". Today she was rather moody but no "episode". The screaming is unbelievable. It is like a night terror but she is awake. I was really encouraged after the first few days and then she went down hill. I was thinking maybe it isn't the Singulair. After reading all of the posts it sounds like it can take some children longer. I always stay with my daughter during these episodes because she tries to break things and cries for help. Yesterday I just broke down and started crying with her because she was yelling how much pain she was in and why couldn't I help her. I feel so helpless right now. We went to the doctor yesterday and he doesn't feel it is all the medicine doing this. He even suggested temporal lobe seizures. We have an appointment with a gastrointestinal doctor for her stomach and an endocrinologist for her hormones to see if they are out of whack. If those tests come back ok he suggests an EEG for seizures! My daughter is a mess right now and so miserable. To think Singulair is causing it makes me crazy!! Doctors need to read these forums and if they still don't believe it take Singulair themselves!! Hopefully your child will improve after it is totally out of her system. Maybe the longer you are on it the longer it takes to get out of your system??? I wish you the best!
