Yes! I was on Yasmin for 5 years and it worked great. But then, I've been under a lot of stress and all of the sudden, I have unbelievably terrible anxiety. I told my doctor and asked if I could try something else. She said that could definitely be a factor and I'm switching to something new now.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'm going off the pill completely. That was the scariest thing ever, I started to think I had developed a panic disorder or something. I'm feeling better each day I'm not taking the pill, but the experience was so awful I'm afraid of it returning. I never suspected it was Yasmin that caused this since it came on so suddenly but hearing this happened to others makes me feel better!
yes, i got SEVER anxiety and panic at the end of only my second month. it was horrible. i had one anxiety attack years back on a plane, but never since then, and never to this extent. it went on for about a week before i found this website and tons others. i've called doctors' offices and talked to nurses that say, yes, a hormone imbalance caused by bc pill can have this side effect. also, a lot of women are complaining of anxiety and depression after taking yaz and yasmin. i'm now on a very mild anti anxiety med, and also a vitamin/supplement program that encourages your body to produce and level out your hormone levels. don't feel bad -- a nurse told me if your hormones aren't in balance, nothing in your body can work properly, and i think these synthetic hormones are a dangerous thing to take. i'm scarred!! good luck!!
Hey Kadie - I've been on Yasmin the past 4 years and never had a problem until the last 2 months. I've turned into a crazy person. My mood swings are uncontrollable, I'm depressed and lost all sex drive. I get irritated when my husband tries to touch me. This isn't me at all. I've also started breaking out in hives... weird.
I wonder if they changed something in these pills? I'm going to stop taking it, I can't think of what else would be causing these symptoms.
Sunshine-
I stopped taking the pill 4 weeks ago and am feeling MUCH better. I had the rashes too, but I've been having that for the last year or so. Also, I never realized it but my ear-popping and feet cramping were probably side effects too, I thought they were caused by something else but they've stopped since I stopped taking the pill. I also hadn't realized that the pill was "dulling" my happiness. Now, when I'm happy about something I feel REALLY happy about it. I feel more motivated and less tired too. Oh, and the sex drive is BACK. I thought I had lost it from getting older and getting married but I was wrong. It was the pill. The best part: no more constant anxiety (that was HORRIBLE). Now, since I'm off the pill this month I have had about 3 minutes twice a week of an anxiety feeling but that is normal because your body gets "scared" of feeling anxious again. I actually went ot a therapist mine was so suddenly onset and traumatic and he says I will be 100% fine within a couple of weeks, I already feel like I'm there minus the few minutes a week it creeped back. And this is my first month off the pill and I haven't even had a period yet (been off 4 weeks). I think I ovulated this week so hopefully my cycles will go back to normal. I would get off the pill; I loved it for so long but am actually afraid of it now. I think they changed some dosages or something. Maybe they changed the manufacturer. I wonder if we got the same lot number. I kept my package from my last pack.
Good luck
Just to update other posters and anyone who reads this, I am off yasmin now for a year and feel great. NO anxiety, NO panic, NO leg cramps, NO ear-popping. I started feeling better the month I stopped taking the pill, and every month got better and better. My hair shed pretty bad about 4 months off, but grew right back (it's because of the sudden change). I take Biotin (for the hair growth) and Magnesium (for the ectopic beats Yasmin gave me - this also helped with the anxiety). I highly recommend both if you're stopping yasmin. Also, talk to a therapist. The Yasmin causes the anxiety but my therapist helped me deal with the symptoms (and he believe the anxiety was caused by the Yasmin too, so it's important to find one that believes you). I would say I have been anxiety free since about 5 months post-Yasmin. It went from constant (on Yasmin) to less, to less, to less each month post-Yasmin. The most dramatic drop happening in the second month (the first month I think I had a true cycle).
Good luck ladies and keep your head up! I thought my life was ruined and now it's back to pre-Yasmin state (more hair, less tired, more happy, higher sex-drive, etc.). Oh yeah, the only drawback I haven't been able to fully recover from yet is my skin. It got really oily and broken out post-Yasmin and has stayed that way. I didn't even have oily or bad skin before Yasmin so I know it's the Yasmin that is doing this. I think it's getting better though - just VERY slowly.
