My daughter is in kindergarten and has been on singulair for about 4-5 weeks. Her allergies are gone, no more snoring and and no more coughing attacks. My husband did ask the other day what was wrong with her because she had cried about 3 times that day. For any little comment regarding her older brother/ saying we loved him more etc. This is just not like her, now that I am reading this... I am putting two and two together. Does anyone out there know if Clariton will help with allergies as well as singulair? I am seriously thinking of stopping the singulair.

My son is now only on claratin for both food and enviromental allergies and it's hard to say right now. With the Chicago weather being in the 60's tomorrow, I will see. Don't beat yourself up about this and hang in there!

My son was on singulair 3 1/2 years, nasonex and claritin. I have taken him off of singulair and nasonex and so far he has just been using claritin with dose of mucinex (per allergist) to help thin mucus (he was getting numerous sinus infections) he has food and enviromental allergies. My only advice is go with your gut.. Listen to that voice inside of you. I waited 3 1/2 years to listen to mine and that I regret! The more time went on the worse he got. Im happy that after 1 week off the happy boy is back!

There are a lot of other things you can try. Claritin or Zyrtec, or good ole benedryl. My son almost got thrown out of kindergarten because of behavior issues. He teacher told me that he needed to learn not to cry so much because he was going to be labeled a "cry baby". I can't tell you a single day that he didn't burst into tears over something. He was on Singulair since he was two. He also takes zyrtec, and nasacort aq. He has asthma and allergies to just about everything. Just don't let her suffer with depression just to cure her allergies. He has been off singulair for 7 days. He is happier than I have seen him in years.
