First off, let me correct you...SEROTONIN DOES NOT EXIST IN THE STOMACHE! It is a brain chemical that interacts with the nerve receptors in your brain. And here's something else interesting that you all need to consider. Did it ever occur to any of you that maybe, just maybe, the reason it's difficult to come down off the Paxil or PaxilCR is that POSSIBLY that is something your body needs and is TELLING YOU that it needs. Paxil is NOT addictive, and those who believe it is addictive have chosen to give up on the drug after a week of taking it, and in some cases, even shorter time frames without even giving it a chance. There is NO SUCH THING as a drug that doesn't have side effects. Each person's body reacts different due to individual chemistry and make up.
People who believe you can take a drug and then never once experience a side effect are living in a fantasy world.
So, some of you need to weigh the pros and cons of taking Paxil, or any medication for that, to determine if it's right for you. Are you going to live with some side effects that won't hurt you but you feel better in the long run, OR, did you feel better before taking the medication and is it really just an "in your head" situation.
Lastly, those of you who make comments about the FDA have no clue what you're talking about. Unless you can back up what you CLAIM the FDA has said about any drug, don't waste everyone's time and you certainly do not need to get everyone all worried that their prescription for PaxilCR/Paxil might cause some devastating event. Paxil has been proven over the years how to effective it can be. My mother has taken Paxil for over 10 years now and has had wonderful success with it, along with myself.
Maybe it's time to start focusing on some of the benefits of certains drugs instead of always complaining. Just cause one drug doesn't work for you personally doesn't mean it won't work for someone else. You need to remember that!
paxcil helped me through a ruff time in my life and i was on it for 7 years and when i new is was better i just weaned my self off to one pill every other day for a month then a half for 2 weeks the every 2 days then i was done and didn't only get a head ache nothing serious it is just mind over matter .But some people need to understand they might need it for ever and it can't be helped.BUT NEVER CHANGE YOUR DOSE WITH OUT YOUR DOCTOR IT IS DANGERIOUS because it effects all people different .but it does not have all those side effects you here about it is all in how you think
I have to wonder if the people that don't think Paxil is addictive have ever tried to get off...I was one of those uneducated people for awhile....I have been taking it since it came out....it is the only med I have been on. I have now tried to get off of awful drug with the help and advice of my Dr.
To those of you that are still taking it...don't try to get off of it without a Doctors advice, but also don't judge and say people that have had the addiction are wrong....take a little walk in their shoes first.
