I would not stop taking your thyroid medicine. I have not taken it before. You will not get better, if anything worse. Keep pressing the situation and find a doctor that will listen.
YOU WILL DIE. If you have no thyroid, you MUST take thyroid medication. It is not an option. Call your doctor immediately.
My daughter was diagnosed with Hashimotos at the age of 5. We consistantly increase dosages with no change in symptoms. She is now 10, and takes 100mcg daily. She is up to 123 lbs, looks swollen and miserable. I am so desperate as a mother I took her off everything this week and want to know what risk I am putting her in. I can't imagine anything worse than what she is already experiencing.
I was on Synthroid for a couple of years, and finally got fed up with all of the side effects & feeling like crap everyday. I stopped taking any medication for about three months. Bad idea. I started to develop some serious issues - kidney problems, liver issues, etc. Fortunately, I resumed taking medication before any permanent damage occurred. You may want to try switching to Nature-throid, Armour, or Westhroid. I switched to Nature-throid about six months ago, and I have fewer side effects. I am still dealing with the weight gain from Synthroid (60 pounds over three years), but the puffiness and depression have disappeared. Whatever you do, DO NOT stop your medication, though! Hope this helps.
