I am a 36 year-old female, and in very good physical condition. I have been a runner for 15 years. I was prescribed levaquin for a recurrent sinus infection, 500mg x 7 days. On the second day I developed severe carpal tunnel syndrome (tendonitis of the forearms & hands); I could barely hold a pen in my hand, much less write. I refused to take the 3rd dose. On the 5th day (even though I am not taking it anymore) I woke up with severe hip pain (both hips). I can barely walk, much less run. I am a full-time physician and have a small child. I am not sure what will happen to my favorite hobby, running. This drug is extremely dangerous, and I will never prescribe it to anyone. It should be removed from the market!!

I'm sorry that this happened to you. This may be of no comfort to you, but you are not alone in your suffering. There are thousands of us. Unfortunately it won't be until this starts happening to the medical community, that doctors will stop prescribing this poison to unsuspecting patients. Please try to get the word out among your colleagues about your experience. I will pray for a speedy recovery for you. Luckily you did not take the full course of antibiotics. I wish I could say the same for me. I took 10 pills of Levaquin 500mg in December and am still suffering terribly. When I reported this to my gp, he did not believe me which has caused even more suffering. There are several websites you may be interested in: fqvictims.org, fqresearch.org, fluoroquinolones.org. There are also several support groups on yahoo. Best of luck.

that's too bad that this NEW drug hits the market & the dr's just give it out so freely without REALLY researching it first. Especially to another Dr. What happened to good old penicillan? At least that's been around for while and the side effects are minimal! THANK GOD FOR ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE!!!

I'm sorry to hear the effects from you. This medicine should really come with a bigger warning. I took it in January and I am still experiencing the hip pain. Try taking some of the over the counter MSM/chonsroiton medicines, they help a little.
