Sorry guys. The post below is mine and I left out a critical part of the entry. My three year old daughter was put on Allegra (along with the Singulair and Nasonex) in mid-March which is when her sleeping patterns changed. I've researched the side-effects of Allegra and I can't find sleeplessness anywhere. Therefore, maybe it's the combination of the Singulair and Allegra causing the problem. Does anyone else have a small child on this combination of meds. that is experiencing similar problems?

My daughter is 10 and was put on Singulair (5 mg 1x a day) and Allegra (2x a day) 3 years ago. This combination was wonderful! No more seasonal allergies at all. About a year or so we started seeing mood swings. In January, the stomach aches started daily. In February, leg cramps, light sensitivity started. Then beginning of March severe tantrums began. This really worried us. March 31st I found out about Singulair and stopped it. Today is day 9 and I have a new child!! She is still on Allegra and all of the symptoms have disappeared. She never had trouble sleeping on Singulair, but I know many have. We were lucky there. We have been given Nasonex if needed. So far we haven't needed it yet. Sounds like our doctors think alike. Too bad mine didn't advise me to take her off of Singulair when her stomach problems started. It was a rough few months. We are fortunate it wasn't years like so many others. Side effects did take a while to develop so it may be that Singulair was the cause. Give it a couple of weeks. Hopefully you will see improvement.

i only know about singulair and i do know that it causes sleeplessness in some children. just read through the posts from the last month or so, you'll see a very distinctive pattern.
