Fortunately, my son has been off Singulair for three weeks and his breathing has been fine. However, this site has many stories of kids behaving better off Singulair but their asthma again become more symptomatic.

My granddaughter has been off for 2 weeks. I asked her yesterday whether she was having any allergy type symptoms and she said 'No.' Also, we went sightseeing in D.C this past week and walked everywhere, she seemd fine with her breathing. By the way, her old self seems to be coming back, she's almost 12 and had been on (I can't even say it it makes me so upset) since she was 9. We have decided to deal with it by adjusting to the environement and using natural remedies.
Yes, he has been off of it for two weeks and ended up in the ER wednesday night. Last Friday, a week off of it is when it slowly started. Winded after playing basketball for awhile, and little coughing that progressed over a few days (just thought he was getting a cold/cough) at school they had to come and get me b/c he was having trouble breathing and coughing so I had to call the Dr. to get permission to give him another childs inhaler. The next night he started coughing non stop and had a ton of phelgm. After about an hour and a half we took him to the ER. He has now been diagnosed with asthma and is on flovent and albuterol. Never had breathing issues before we started on this drug! He was only on it for about 10 days when we pullled me off of it b/c of severe site effects of which my April 1st post describes. My son was on this drug for food allergies. Several reports have been outlined by concerned citizen about this being reported! It stinks!
my son was on it for allergies he has since got a cold Hoping it is JUST a cold He is still on Flonase so we'll see if he gets better in a few days if not it might be a sinus infection?? :( but at this point I'd rather have him sick than go through what we did again

I took my then12-year-old daughter off Singulair cold turkey since her allergy shots were helping with allergies/asthma, and immediately she got a viral upper respitory/sinus infection with lots of drippage in back of her throat. She was miserable with a low grade fever for 5-6 days. Maybe it was a coincidence, but I don't think so. She was on Singulair for about 3 years straight.
