In my opinion, yes. I started on 50 mg of Toprol, went down to 25 mg within a few months, then dropped to 12.5 after a year. I took 12.5 for 1 and 1/2 years then switched to the generic in August staying at 12.5. It only took about 1 month for side effects to set in (depression, anxiety, insomnia, tremors, numbness, tingling etc...) and it took about 6 weeks to figure out it was the med. It took a few months after stopping the med for symptoms to clear up.
