Who knew that would happen huh, well the difference in european countries and ours ,is that somebody has a buck to make,This reaseach was swept under the carpet by american companies,so they could make more money,The healthcare system in america is money driven,in other countries were healthcare is a right, they bother to see if they are wasting time and money, that might in the end cost more money. While we were sleeping the monies made were spent to lobby congress etc, to take away the rights of our children,so they can continue there tactics with the law on their side, frankly the whole thing makes me ill, wonder if merck has a pill for that
flindy, you make some very good points. The health care system in Europe and Canada reports about potential problems so that they can save money on hospital stays and emergency care. It is in the best interest of a system being paid for by public money to nip things in the bud before they cost big bucks.
It makes no sense that we have to fight this hard to prove something that is so obvious. So many lives have and still are being affected by Singulair. Yes, the bottom line is money. It is really sad that we live in a country that values money more than peoples lives. We can't give up on this fight!!
Why any doctor would be condescending to someone who is trying to present the public with real, solid information about current medical studies and research is beyond me. Yes, some of the articles are complex and use some language and syntax that many of us don't see/use on a regular basis, but we're not all a bunch of bumbling morons who are unable or unwilling to use our brains. I realize I didn't go to medical school, but I'm quite capable of doing research and I'm certain that most anyone on here is equally capable. The doctor should be thanking you for helping us save others from the same pain and frustration we've all been through with our children, and perhaps even saving the life of another teenager pushed to the brink by this nasty little pill. I say keep up the good work! I know I am not alone in my appreciation for all that you've done.
just wanted to say TY for all your info I think u have been a great help to e/o on this board
& I now believe every single person who posted on here b/c I have Seen it with my own eyes!!!
keep up the good work CC
My opinion is that Dr. ? was concerned that I was spreading misinformation. Who could spend the time or energy to make every sentence perfect or figure out what to say to be clear. He did not like that I tried to talk about physiology with the public. I probably didn't do a very good job.
In my opinion, prescribing Singulair as a blanket cure for both asthma and allergies is practically criminal. But, Merck has assured everyone that Singulair is completely safe and effective by hiding the kind of data that we have seen reported from European countries. We have seen a number of other countries issue statement of concern regarding montelukast. What is Merck probably hiding? This is just my opinion.
1. That they have already gone to a different model for asthma and allergy that incorporates much more detailed research on genetics, IgE, and other considerations. That they already have left the one size fits all approach behind so that they can work on the next generation of therapeutic agents and are trying to beat their competition to the patent and the market.
2. That there is a different model of how Singular interacts with the pathways that have become hyper-sensitized that cause asthma, asthma-allergy or just allergy. The mast cell has different receptors. Any time that a medication blocks that receptor's function, then it starts a set of chain reactions. Some of the chain reactions are good and some of them are bad. I believe that Singulair actually changes the mast cell--I am using that broadly to mean a variety of things.
In other words, in my opinion, the doctors have never been told exactly how this drug changes the many, many sets of chemical feedback systems that regulate our body. Thus the vast potential for a number of different side effects that don't seem related to the nose or the lungs.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Singulair. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Singulair, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. Please always contact your physician.
