I am 26 years old, have a great job, boyfriend, friends and family. Everything was great until Oct. 1st, 2007 - the day I started taking Yaz. The first week, I would get into bad moods for no reason, and by the 4th month my life was spinning out of control. Actually, my mind was - my life was still near perfect. Here were my symptoms during this period: Panic Attacks, nausea, shaking, de-realization and so much more. There was a point where I was scared to live and scared to die. I didn't even want to leave my house. This is when I decided to see a psychiatrist who percribed me Klonopin (a form of Valium to get me through the days.) I stopped taking YAZ The end of Jan 2008 (after I put 2 and 2 together), so I have been clean of it for approx. 2.5 months now. But the upsetting part for me was I thought the day I stopped taking the pill, was the day I would get my life back. Not so!!! I have been feeling a little better but I cry because I I still do not feel like my old self, which was happy, outgoing and full of energy. Does anyone know how long it takes to feel better? I hear 3 months, but I just want to know how long it took for someone to feel normal again. My anxiety is mostly gone, but now I just feel withdrawn and like my head is in a constant fog w/ extreme fatigue :(:(:( Girls - I feel your pain. And I also see the other side, with the women that had sucess on this pill. My two closest friends were on Yaz and loved it! But for me, it took many months from my life and I am still not 100%. Thanks for everyone who shared. I think this is the first time I ever blogged on a web-site, and you girls gave me the encouragement to share my story. Please feel free to send me a personal e-mail for support.

I'm about to go off soon and am hoping I normalize quickly, but I think everyone is different. It may take a couple more months for it to be totally out of your system. Are you on something new or off of pills completely? I feel your pain, my friend. It's crazy to think of how many women are affected in this way and how you read none of this in the stupid little pill directions that come in the pack. Terrifying, really.
I wish you the best. Keep us posted on how you're feeling.

Okay, I reply to a lot of people on this page, because I know I felt, and still feel. It feels so good to know it's not you, it's your hormones that are causing these crazy feelings. After only 2months on the pill is when my sever anxiety and panic started. After a week of hell, I stopped the pill. It's gotten sooooo much better, but it's been a process. My first period off the pill was a bad one, a lot of the anxiety came back, and that was so discouraging. I'm on a vitamin/supplement program from a website called Women to Women. These people have a practice up in Maryland and they really stress getting your hormone levels back to where they should be. The women I've talked to on the phone have said that they get lots of people calling with these same side effects from lots of bc pills, but especially Yaz and Yasmin. One women said that coming off the pill is many times worse for some women. It's been about 3 months for me, and I feel so much better, but not yet myself. I'm scarred. I will never take synthetic hormones again. I hope you are feeling better. Good luck!!!

Hi Nicole-
I think I replied to your post about yasmin and anxiety a few months ago. Just wanted to know how yo uare doing? It's been about 8 months off teh pill for me, and I must admit I feel soooooooooo much better, but I still have days when anxiety can get to me. For me it's the obsessive thinking - and I never had this before the pill. Have you gotten any other help for your anxiety? Did you have the obsessive thinking hat accompanies anxiety? Just trying to get a hold of other women who've dealt with what I've had to deal with. I want to feel like myself 100% of the time and not be scared to feel the anxiety!
Thanks!
Crystal
