Vivid nightmares are definitely a "side effect" of Singulair! If I could go back in time, I would take my daughter off this evil drug much sooner. It is BAD for children's brains. Work with a doctor who will acknowledge the risk and find another medicine (if needed).
This is an interesting response from a doctor. We all know here that nightmares are reported. It was in all of the post marketing reports from other countries.
Did your doctor tell you exactly why your child needed Singulair? Did your doctor explain what the alternate treatments were? Did your doctor tell you about all of the possible side effects that have been reported?
If not, then are you really giving informed consent for your child to take this drug? Why on earth would any doctor say take it for 6 months if you complained? What is this an experiment?
Just read all the posts over the last 3 weeks! My son was only on it for about 10 days. The stomach pain within hours of taking the pill. My 3 year has never complained of a stomach ache and after being on this pill every night he would cry from the pain in his tummy! Call your Dr. immediately and report to him what is going on. If he doesn't believe you than tell him to read these posts from April 1st! He is your son and don't keep him on it! Learn from all the others! Don't make your child suffer one minute longer. Keep us posted!
I to reported nightmares in my son in the first 2 mnths, i was told by the doc this is common and will go away as treatment continues,it did so we thought, but it appears to me now with 20/20 hindsight, that it just buried itself in his subconsious and made him afraid of everything,
Thank you everybody for you replies.
My son had asthma attack this January, and each time he catches flu or he is running too much he starts coughing. The thing is that we are living in Dubai, UAE, and humidity is extremely high here, that’s why most of the kids here are having asthma. Doctor said that this is mild asthma (something like allergic asthma) and in order to avoid real asthma at a later age he should take singulair for 6 months. Also it seems that this medicine is new in this country so when I told to doctor about side effect he said lots of kids are taking it and no one has complained so far.
After reading your replies I am 100% convinced this medicine is not good. And I’ll stop giving to him from now on. Thank you for your support.
I took Singulair for a few days and experienced the most horrifying nightmares I had ever had. Your son is too young to tell you what he is seeing but the dreams are so vivid you feel like you are really there. Also know that my daughter has taken it for 6 years and became suicidal. Please take your child off of this medicine. There has to be something else to help our kids than this poison.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Singulair. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Singulair, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways.
