I have been taking Toprol-XL for a long time. I have recently been switched to the generic and it is not controlling my blood pressure as well and my heart is palpitating a lot. I think I had problems before with the brand name but this is far worse. Is there a possibility that this drug causes Fibromyalgia??? I've seen some posts about that and I was also diagnosed with it because of severe muscle pain. If anyone has noticed a trend please respond, I am desparate.

59 year old male who had afib.
------------------------------------------
I've been taking Toprol and it's generics for about 8 months.
I started at 50 mg and now take 25 mg at night.
While I feel a lot better taking 25 mg than 50 mg, I still have the following
Side effects: chest pain, shortness of breath, some fatigue.

I can swim with out much trouble; however, at the end of a quarter mile jog I'm sucking air and my legs feel dead. I had a pulminary ablation procedure
in June of 2007; so, I'm not sure if the medication is causing the problems or I still have heart problems. If I go to the doctor, I'm affraid I'll end up with a worse medication.

Please let me know if you had a similar experience.

Ron
