I guess that you are referring to me when you say research. I don't see anyone who is saying any thing other than side effects should be investigated and anyone who takes the drug should be warned.
There is no such thing as a perfectly safe drug for everybody.
I believe that Singulair was way over promoted to the extreme. The marketing people went crazy. The promotional material and the patient/doctor information profile is misleading and it is INCOMPLETE.
Hopefully, all of the companies will learn from this. There is no such thing as one size fits all. Singul - AIR is not the only product in the world for everybody as the marketing people want the public to believe.
Obviously a drug with a marketing name called "dogshitta" wouldn't have done well regardless if it was great. But to take a good choice of name and go crazy with it was wrong.
Hopefully, there can be some kind of resolution so that everybody's needs can be recognized and served.
Millions of people take singulair without any problems. That is not in dispute. For those of us who have had problems or have had children who have had problems, it would have been nice to know about the side effects. That is the reason that people are so upset. I have the printout from a recent perscrition refill with none of the "new" info on it. Our doctors weren't given the info either. And how can you be prepared for reaction that may take months, or even years to creep up on you? It's the fact that we weren't aware of a problem till the news reports hit and have had to go this and other websites to find the info.
It is very hard to have an objective attitude toward a drug that POSSIBLY could cause suicide in SOME people. I don't think the parents of the two boys that committed suicide can have anything but a negative attitude regarding Singulair. If patients and doctors are not warned of suicide and the countless other side effects of Singulair than that is a problem. Singulair has dropped the ball on this one. They should be held accountable for the countless lives that have been put in turmoil and are still in turmoil because they don't know Singulair is causing destruction in their life! For that Singulair should pay.
Have you had to take antibiotics more than you did before starting Singulair? Have you had any skin rashes? Have you had yeast or fungal infections? How are your toe nails? How well do you sleep?
I had a bad reaction to the 10mg pill. I am an adult taking the 4mg pill and it works great.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Singulair. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Singulair, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. Please always contact your physician.
