I have been taking lorazepam (generic for Ativan) for over a year. It helps me sleep and keeps me level from anxiety. I do find it difficult to sleep without it, but the reason I started is because I found it difficult to sleep. I don't crave it and or abuse it. I am very happy with it and at $6.00 for a 30 day supply, am grateful.

Do you ever have a worse anxiety effect when the Ativan wears off? I was only taking .5 but when it started to wear off the anxiety came back ten fold. I ended up in the ER with what I now know was a panic attack. I never had this before taking Ativan. I was taking it for a mild rise in blood pressure that my doctor thought was from stress. I have since stopped but still have about 3 epidsodes a day of really bad anxiety. I have researched the paradoxycl effect and think it may be the culprit.

P.S. Try Melatonin to sleep it works wonders.
