After taking Topamax for six months, I found my self different person.... I started feeling this way just in the first few weeks after I started the medication, but the simptoms incleased with the time....Anxiety, nervousness, panick attacks, negative thinking and depression....crying, making up problems from nothing, hair loss also....I decided to stop it, slowly and without any concequences I thought I am out of it....But just a couple weeks I stop it is I noticed some red spots on my skin on the lower legs, soon they became more and stronger..... Two months later I was in abnormal stress that I am going to be sick from a terrible desease... Read so much on Internet.... I can explain how terrible I felt and even though I did blood tests (everything was in normal range!!) and spoke with so many doctors, nobody could tell me what exactly is wron with me. One Dermatologist named the skin problem as Progressive Pigmentary purpura and gave me a cream for that. Thanks a lot for that because the spots started desapearing, but it may come again.... nobody knows for sure.... I think this is another side effect of Topamax, that nobody had before..... Please tell me if somebody else had the same situation... I will feel much more relieved....

Topamax might be good for some but for me didn´t work after 2 days of taking it I never felt so nervous. I stopped taking it and went back to clonazepam.

Yes, I am taking Topamax. I began with one each night before going to bed and each week I added one to it. Now I am taking three a night before going to bed. next week I will be taking four and that is the last increase, I will stay at four. Last week I began having a bit of a rash at the very top of my legs. I have very sensitive skin so I thought it was just the elasitic from my undergarments. I used various things on it and the rash lessened. Yesterday, two days after I began my third pill, I noticed red spots on the underside of my arms. There were just a few spots that were raised and they itched. When I went to bed last night the spots were on my legs and torso as well. When I woke up this morning I was covered, there was none of my skin showing except on my chest, neck and face. Now it is on my one of my ears. I am so glad to hear someone else has had it! I figured it was the Topamax because there has been nothing new in my diet or household which would have caused this drastic of a reaction. I've had other side effects which have lasted just a couple of days with this stuff. I'm going to wait until the weekend is over, then call my doctor if it is not gone. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. what was the treatment that worked for you?

Sincerely,
Sherri

I have been on Topamax for 2 years as well and take 50 mg in morn and 25 at night. I have been having hair loss and this website brought me here...I have been reading over everyone’s blog. It struck me to read about the red spots on the legs because I too have had this! I didn't know what it was...or where it came from? I started treating it though with ointments and called my Dermo. But by the time my appt came around they were fading away. Haven't gotten anymore lately but as of tonight, I'm taking a different approach to my Topamax :) after 2 years... I'm going to wean myself down. I have had many side effects, some not so bothersome but I feel there are other drugs on the market that will and can help me with a migraine. I think it’s time for me to move on...
